For as the heavens are high above the earth,
so surpassing is his kindness toward those who fear him.
As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he put our transgressions from us.
(Psalm 103:11-12)
God’s kingdom rules overall and He is in control of everything. No matter how great our sins, God’s immense and unfailing love, mercy and forgiveness is greater. He removes our transgressions as far as the east is from the west. The depth of God’s forgiveness encourages us to also forgive others who have wronged us. We should always cultivate a spirit of praise and gratitude and to remember all the blessings we have received from God. Let us strive to obey God’s commandments, trust in His plan and His timing, and live according to His will.
In the kingdom where God does reign,
His control over all does sustain.
No sin too great, no fault too severe,
His love and mercy always near.
As far as east is from the west,
He removes our sins, at our behest.
His forgiveness, a depth untold,
A grace from Him, more precious than gold.
Encouraged are we, to forgive in kind,
To release the grudges, in our mind.
Cultivate a spirit, of praise and thanks,
For all our blessings, to God give thanks.
Strive we must, His commands to obey,
In His plan and timing, find our way.
Living according to His divine will,
In our hearts, His love instill.
Dear Heavenly Father,

You remove our transgressions as far as the east is from the west, a testament to the depth of Your forgiveness. This encourages us to also extend forgiveness to those who have wronged us, reflecting Your grace in our lives.
Help us to cultivate a spirit of praise and gratitude, remembering all the blessings we have received from You. Guide us as we strive to obey Your commandments and live according to Your will.
We trust in Your plan and Your timing, knowing that You work all things for good. May our lives be a testament to Your unfailing love and faithfulness.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

PRAISE OF DIVINE GOODNESS
Psalm 103:1-22
Responsorial Psalm | Psalm 103:1-2, 11-12, 19-20
R: The Lord has established his throne in heaven.
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all my being, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. 11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, so surpassing is his kindness toward those who fear him. 12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he put our transgressions from us. 19 The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. 20 Bless the Lord, all you his angels, you mighty in strength, who do his bidding.
Background:
Psalm 103 is a psalm of David, and it is considered one of the most perfect songs of pure praise found in the Bible. The specific circumstances under which it was written are unknown, but it could have been written at many different times of David’s life. Charles Spurgeon suggested that it might have been written in David’s later years when he had a higher sense of the preciousness of pardon and a keener sense of sin.
The verses you mentioned (Psalm 103:1-2, 11-12, 19-20) are part of this psalm of praise:
Verses 1-2: David calls upon his soul to bless the Lord. He understood that true worship was something deeply inward, of the soul. He also understood that worship had to be more than superficial; it had to be offered as completely as possible.
Verses 11-12: These verses highlight the great steadfast love of God towards those who fear Him, and how far He removes our transgressions from us.
Verses 19-20: These verses declare that the Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His kingdom rules over all. It calls upon the angels, His mighty ones who do His word, to bless the Lord.
This psalm is a heartfelt reminder of our fleeting existence, yet also a comfort in its emphasis on God’s eternal, unfailing love and mercy. It encourages us to live a life of praise and gratitude, keeping God’s commandments and recognizing His divine authority over all creation.
Learning Lessons:
Psalm 103:1-2, 11-12, 19-20 offers several profound lessons:
Praise Wholeheartedly: Verses 1-2 teach us to praise God with all our soul and not to forget all His benefits. This encourages us to cultivate a spirit of gratitude and to remember all the blessings we have received from God.
God’s Unfailing Love and Forgiveness: Verses 11-12 remind us of God’s immense love and forgiveness. No matter how great our sins, God’s mercy is greater. He removes our transgressions as far as the east is from the west. This teaches us about the depth of God’s forgiveness and encourages us to also forgive others who have wronged us.
God’s Sovereignty: Verses 19-20 declare that God’s kingdom rules over all. This underscores the sovereignty of God over the entire universe. It reminds us to trust in His plan and His timing, knowing that He is in control of everything.
Obedience to God: Verse 20 calls upon the angels to obey God’s word. This serves as a reminder for us to also strive to obey God’s commandments and live according to His will.
These verses inspire us to live a life of praise, forgiveness, trust in God’s sovereignty, and obedience to His commandments. They remind us of God’s unfailing love and mercy, encouraging us to extend the same to others. Remember, interpretations can vary and it’s always beneficial to reflect on these verses personally or discuss them within a faith community. (Copilot)
