Peter began to say to Jesus,
“We have given up everything and followed you.”
MARK 10:28
Jesus said, “Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come. But many that are first will be last, and the last will be first.” - Mark 10:29-31
Lord Jesus, You are the one true source of everything I have. What I am today are all because of You. To You O Lord, I offer all!
I do confess that there are still times when I am guilty of idolatry. I tend to hold on to material wealth and treasures as a source of security and stability instead of focusing on the giver and not the gifts. When these things diminished or are spent, I began to experience worries and anxieties. Indeed, holding on to material things will only make it hard for me to be at peace.
Earthly treasures and possessions are only temporary holdings. These are material things that are outside of me and it does'nt form part of my whole being. Yes, it may be with me today but can easilly be gone tomorrow. If I place these things at the center of my life, once it is gone I will be devastated.
Today, You want me to give up everything for Your sake and put You at the center of my life as my Lord and Savior. In giving up everything to You, I have learned to accept the truth that none of these things really belong to me. I am just offering back to You back what truly belongs to You. What is amazing is the fact that, "the more I give, the more I receive".
At the end of the day, my complete trust and dependence on You has brough me to the top, earning the highest points and achievement of having a glorious life. Thank You so much Lord for making it all possible for me to reach goals, dreams, and aspirations.
Now, all Your rewards and promises are unfolding before my very eyes. Your word is fulfilled and I continue to receive a hundred times more. In my emptiness, You have filled me with all unimaginable things that only You can give.
All glory and honor are Yours now and forever. Amen.
